Liebster Award

A little while ago, the lovely Carolyn from Dinner’s in the Details nominated me for the Liebster award for up and coming bloggers from other bloggers, which was just lovely, and I’ve been meaning to brag blog about it ever since.  I am so honored to have been nominated by Carolyn, and just knowing that people out there read and like my blog is a wonderful feeling.

The Rules of the Liebster Award:

  • Link back to the person who gave it to you and thank them.
  • Post the award to your blog.
  • Give the award to five bloggers with less than 200 followers who you appreciate and value (please do not be offended by this, I don’t think you have less than 200 followers I am sending on some blog love because I think your blog is great!)
  • Let your award winners know!

So I pass on the award to the following five lovely bloggers:

Ruth from The Mixing Bowl was my first foodie penpal, and I love having a peek at her blog and checking out her gluten free recipes – she proves that making gluten free doesn’t need to be taste free.  I also thought the bacon and chocolate cake she made looked awesome.

Offally Good is a lovely little blog from Lucy who writes about her adventures in eating offal rather than the more widely available popular cuts of meat.  I am rather in awe of Lucy’s challenge to herself to eat offal and inspired have purchased some lamb’s hearts, which I intend to get round to eating at some point.

Middle Class Value is another great blog written by Jo, which I adore having a look at for different meal ideas.  I love that Jo costs her recipes and so able to give an approximate value to her food, which is very good.  Every week she plans her meals to help her to budget food, which I am very bad at. I also love the guest posts, it’s a very down to earth blog with some lovely recipes ideas.

Fee from Fee Hates Rain has a lovely blog where she blogs amazing recipes, I thought the curry she made was amazing.  And I love her “Scottishisms” throughout her blog.  She’s recently moved, and so hasn’t been blogging as much but I look forward to her return.

Finally Lauren, a fellow geordie from Around the World in 80 Bakes, who as it says on the tin so to say, is baking her way around the world.  I love the recipes with a different international feel (and I’m über jealous of her Bundt tin).  I thought her Jamaican Rum Cake look incredible… and like I wouldn’t be able to get up the next day because of the alcohol content! Yum.

I really hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I do, and I think of passing on this award as a token of my appreciation of your blogs!

Thanks for the award! What are you going to with the lamb hearts? You can cook heart fast as well as slow. It’s the middle ground where it gets tough ….

I’m not sure thinking about slow cooking, maybe a curry or something. What would you suggest?

The best hearts I’ve cooked were stuffed and then wrapped in vine leaves and roasted. That’s this: http://offallygood.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/roast-veal-heart-stuffed-with-spring-wrapped-in-vine-leaves-nose-to-tail-fortnight-day-7/ you could definitely do something similar with lamb hearts. Veal is quite like lamb, so the stuffing could be similar. OR do a curry stuffed heart with like curried rice and wrap it in greasproof or cabbage leaves, or that big spinach you get at asian shops. there are lots of stuffed heart recipes rolling around the web, so have a good forage! xx

Technically I’m over the water in Gateshead but it’s a minor detail. I’m hoping to come to a clandestine cake club soon. Be lovely to meet some more foodies.

Fantastic! I was hoping to try the Gateshead CCC too at some point. Give me a shout if you’re going along to the next one 🙂 I always try to get a place but sometimes I’m a bit too late

I’m going to the July one. So indecisive though which is very hard when I need to think of a cake to make.
